Police are responding to a fatal fire involving a bus in Calgary’s northeast Saddle Ridge neighbourhood.
Police are reporting at least 10 people were injured as a result of the incident involving a City of Calgary bus. Three people have been declared dead. One person has sustained life-altering injuries and one person suffered serious injuries, according to police.
The fire occurred just after 1 p.m. on Thursday on the 800 block of Saddletowne Circle, near the neighbourhood’s fire station.
At an unrelated news conference Thursday afternoon, Calgary Transit director Sharon Fleming confirmed the collision involved two buses.
Access to Saddletowne Circle is closed for “a significant amount of time,” police said, advising people to avoid the area.
A Calgary Police Service member also sustained minor injuries.
More to come.
