The Toronto athlete, now under the tutelage of legendary coach Bob Bowman, touched the wall in two minutes 2.62 seconds for the victory in her new home pool at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center at the University of Texas.

“I think that is my fastest in-season 200 butterfly, but I want to keep getting closer to that world record (2:01.81) and there are things I can work on,” the 19-year-old told Swimming Canada. “I’m pretty happy, tonight was a good swim to end off the meet.”

McIntosh, who owns the next four fastest times behind the world mark, added her adjustment to training in Texas with Bowman has been good and is happy with the program.

“I have absolutely loved it here so far, it has been such an amazing environment to train in and everyone is so welcoming,” she said.

A three-time world champion in the 200 butterfly, McIntosh also posted the fastest time in an American pool in Thursday’s 400 freestyle, clocking 3:55.37.

During the final day of the 2025 U.S. Open Championships, Summer McIntosh won the women’s 200 butterfly in 2:02.62. This is a new US Open record (fastest time on American soil), and also the 4th fastest performance of all time in the event. pic.twitter.com/8ExBVoozqj

McIntosh also stood out Friday, earning a bronze medal in the 100 butterfly (57.01) and seventh in the 100 backstroke (1:01.62).

Canadians reached the medal podium five times on Friday and Saturday, including three gold.

Ilya Kharun was victorious in the men’s 50 fly on Saturday in 22.98 after grabbing silver in the 200 (1:55.71) the previous day. He also took silver Friday in the men’s 100 fly (50.40).

The Montreal native was pleased with his racing this week, felt relaxed and is happy where he is at for the middle of the season.

“I haven’t had time to really train long course [50m pool] but for a mid-season meet it went pretty well,” the 20-year-old said.

Mary-Sophie Harvey of Montreal’s CAMO club collected a silver medal in the 50 fly (26.43) on Saturday, one day after capturing gold with a 4:36.75 performance in the in the women’s 400 individual medley.

Harvey, 26, views each race as an opportunity to grow and keeps a positive mindset.

“I’m not going to lie, I was expecting to be a bit faster, but I’ll take it,” said the two-time Olympian from Trois-Rivieres, Que. “I am getting back into the 400 IM, it is a good starting point, so I am not trying to be so hard on myself. Lots of things to improve and looking forward to it.”

Alexanne Lepage and Blake Tierney delivered silver medals — Lepage in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.81) and Tierney in the 100 backstroke (53.52).

Tierney has been working through injuries but is satisfied with his performance, based on his current training volume.

“I think I have been putting in some good work … [and] the time is pretty good, given the circumstances, so I can’t complain,” said the Saskatoon native.

The 23-year-old Tierney also swam Saturday night in the 200 back (1:58.21) and added silver.
