A woman has been arrested and charged after thousands of dollars worth of stolen toys were recovered from a Guelph, Ont., residence.
A business on Ottawa Street South in Kitchener reported two separate thefts of Jellycat stuffed toys on Oct. 25 and Dec. 6., valued at approximately $2,000 in total, Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) said in a release Thursday.
On Tuesday, WRPS investigations unit executed a warrant at a Guelph residence and recovered around 140 stolen toys with a value of $7,500. Most of them were Jellycat stuffed toys believed to have been stolen from across southwestern Ontario.
The 52-year-old woman was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and trafficking stolen property.
She is scheduled to appear in a Kitchener court on Jan. 12.
Police say they are working to find out if any other businesses have been affected.
