Brady Tkachuk scored 2:11 into overtime to lift the Ottawa Senators to a 3-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Monday.

Tim Stutzle, with his third assist of the game, sent the puck across to Tkachuk, who put a one-timer past Connor Hellebuyck to silence the crowd inside Canada Life Centre.

Nick Cousins and Jake Sanderson also scored for the Senators (15-13-1) and Linus Ullmark stopped 23 shots.

Defencemen Neal Pionk and Logan Stanley scored for the Jets (15-15-2).

Hellebuyck made 28 saves in his second game back from injury for Winnipeg, which is 1-3-1 in its last five games and has gone nearly a month without consecutive victories.

There was no scoring in the first period, with shots on goal seven apiece and two power plays for Ottawa and one for Winnipeg.

The teams traded power plays early in the second, but both scored at even strength.

Cousins took a pass across the front of the net from Kurtis MacDermid, then sent a wrist shot that went over Hellebuyck’s right pad at 10:47.

Pionk blasted a one-timer from the point straight at Ullmark just under five minutes later to tie it 1-1.

Stanley made it 2-1 with his sixth goal of the season, surpassing the total of five goals the big defenceman had in his first five NHL seasons combined.

Sanderson’s shot with 1:54 remaining in the third went off Winnipeg centre Mark Scheifele and into the net to make it 2-2.

The Jets return to action Wednesday when they visit the St. Louis Blues.

Jets: Kyle Connor assisted on Pinok’s second goal of the season, extending his points streak to nine games with four goals and nine assists. Gabriel Vilardi’s helper on Stanley’s goal stretched his points streak to seven games (five goals, four assists).

Senators: Ottawa struggle with the man advantage. The Senators spent the entire two minutes of their second power play in the offensive zone, but only put two shots at Hellebuyck. Another went wide and a one-timer attempt was fanned on. They went into the game scoring 26.3 per cent on the power play (26-for-99), but were 0-for-3 against the Jets. Stutzle extended his points streak to four games with four goals and five assists.

Tkachuk’s winning one-timer was his second goal of the season.

Winnipeg killed all three of its penalties, which snapped its dubious streak of allowing at least one power-play goal in eight consecutive games.
