Swimming is one of the best full-body workouts you can do. It’s low-impact, high-reward, and deeply meditative. Of course, one person’s “meditative” is another’s “boring.” In this case, a good playlist—and headphones that can actually play music underwater—could be the solution.

A full set of resistance bands gives you the ability to train glutes, shoulders, arms, and back in ways that dumbbells actually can’t replicate, because bands increase resistance throughout the range of motion rather than relying on gravity. A good set will include multiple resistance levels, so you can progress over time without buying new equipment.

A good workout on a rowing machine can engage up to 86% of your muscles, combining cardio and strength training while being gentle on your joints. If no other cardio or strength routine calls your name, maybe rowing is for you.
