A man has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of two children found in a vehicle in northwest Calgary on Thursday.
The man appeared before a Justice of the Peace in Calgary on Friday.
At approximately 10 a.m. on Thursday, officers were called to the 4300 block of 14th Street N.W., near the District 3 police station. Upon arrival they located a stopped vehicle with the deceased children inside. A man was taken into custody at the scene.
Police said Thursday the children are believed to be under the age of 10.
Authorities do not yet know the relationship between the man and the children.
The homicide unit is investigating.
Calgary police are expected to give an update on the investigation this afternoon.
