A 47-year-old Airdrie, Alta., woman died in Kananaskis on Saturday after a hiking accident, police say.
The hiker had been summiting Mount Bryant in Elbow-Sheep Wildland Provincial Park in the morning and “fell on her way down,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Mathew Howell said.
“She was with several other hikers at the time, and they’re the ones who called the incident in,” he said.
The hiker “was located by helicopter and transported to emergency medical services” after “a scrambling incident” was reported at Mount Bryant, according to Ministry of Forestry and Parks spokesperson Riley Gough.
He said Kananaskis Emergency Services, Alberta Parks’ Kananaskis Mountain Rescue team and Alberta Conservation Officer Service joined RCMP and ALTA Paramedic Health in the incident response.
