A Winnipeg man who self-identified as being “extremely racist” in posts he made on social media has pleaded guilty to advocating genocide and wilfully promoting hatred against Muslims and Jews.
Jason Paul Rindall, who is in his mid-50s, entered guilty pleas in Manitoba provincial court in Winnipeg on Thursday.
He also faced a charge of uttering threats related to posts that threatened Prime Minister Mark Carney. The Crown stayed that charge.
Crown attorney Vanessa Gama read from an agreed statement of facts, which was reviewed and signed by Rindall and his defence lawyer, Michael Brennan, before Judge Jay Funke on Thursday.
The statement of facts — which included text from the posts Rindall made on X — wasn’t filed in court Thursday. Instead, Gama read portions of the posts and said the document would be filed during sentencing, when more context from affected communities is available.
In April 2025, RCMP officials started investigating a series of posts made by a publicly accessible X account, according to the statement of facts. At the time, investigators believed the account’s owner lived in Winnipeg but could not determine exactly where they lived.
Police kept monitoring the account until January, when threats against Carney were posted. Investigators considered the statements to be an “elevation and escalation of risk” and were able to link the account to Rindall, Gama said.
He was arrested in February and charged with three counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. In late March, he was also charged with advocating genocide and wilful promotion of hatred.

“Although the accused posted on a wide range of topics, the content was predominantly anti-government, anti-Muslim, anti-immigration and pro-white,” Gama said, adding some posts “advocated for a civil war.”
Rindall posted several statements between late February 2025 and mid-February 2026 advocating for genocide against Muslim people. While Gama didn’t read specific posts from the statement of facts, Gama said the messages included “calling for the murdering of Muslims” and “burning down mosques.”
Rindall also made posts promoting hatred against Muslims, referring to mosques as “terrorist organizations,” Gama said.

He made posts between March 2025 and late January 2026 inciting hatred against Jews. Gama said one stated “Hitler was on to something.”
In other posts, Rindall referred to himself as being “extremely racist” and said he had adopted “racist and white supremacist ideology,” according to the agreed statement of facts.
Police executed a search warrant at his home on March 13. Despite posts claiming he possessed guns, officers did not find any during the search.
Rindall admitted to writing the posts in a Feb. 13 statement to police. He told police he was entitled to “free speech” and should be allowed to post whatever he wants, adding he didn’t think laws against this type of hate speech should exist, the statement of facts said.
Gama said Rindall told police “my tongue could get cut off and I would still say these things,” according to the statement of facts.
When Brennan asked Rindall if he accepted the agreed statement of facts, Rindall responded, “Yes.”
Funke accepted the guilty pleas. Rindall will return to court at a later date for sentencing.
