In a statement released Thursday afternoon, the Royal Newfoundland Newfoundland Constabulary said the man faces new charges of arson and mischief in connection with a fire on July 15.

Police said an investigation determined a tent had been placed in the road on Victoria Street and intentionally set on fire.

The same man was previously charged with arson and mischief connected to four intentionally set fires in the St. John’s area between July 18 and July 21. The man was first charged on July 23, then on July 29 and again on Tuesday.

Man charged with arson in St. John’s area is suspect in 9 additional cases, says RNC

He also faces charges of mischief under $5,000, mischief over $5,000 and three counts of breaking and entering, according to a previous update from the RNC. The man appeared in court on Wednesday, according to police.

Police said an investigation into other fires allegedly started by the man — which targeted communications towers and pole lines — remains ongoing.
