The move follows an earlier DAO vote that overwhelmingly supported retiring the regular Simple DVT clusters.
Simple DVT was built as a way to bring distributed validator technology into Lido’s staking operation while lowering the risk of relying on a single validator operator.
The Module Was Always Meant To Evolve
Distributed validator technology splits validator responsibilities across multiple operators.
Instead of one entity controlling a validator key and its infrastructure, a cluster of participants collectively operates the validator.
That can reduce single-operator failure risk and give protocols like Lido a path toward a more distributed validator set.
Simple DVT helped test that model at scale.
But infrastructure rarely stands still for long.
As Lido’s staking architecture develops and newer validator modules mature, older cluster configurations can eventually become redundant.
The DAO approved a proposal earlier this year to wind down the regular Simple DVT clusters.
The vote completed with roughly 57.4 million LDO in support and no votes against, according to the governance record.
Operators Are Moving Through The Exit Process
Lido’s latest update says the wind-down itself is now complete.
The first tranche of grants — 0.175 stETH per eligible participant — has also been distributed to qualifying node operators as part of the transition framework.
This does not mean Lido is abandoning distributed validators.
Quite the opposite.
Simple DVT helped establish DVT as a workable part of Lido’s validator architecture.
The shutdown is better understood as infrastructure moving on from one implementation as the broader staking system evolves.
For users holding stETH, there is no obvious action required.
The change sits lower in the stack, in the machinery deciding how Lido’s validators are organized and operated.
