The Ottawa Senators will open their season at home tonight with a tribute to former goaltender Ray Emery.
Emery drowned in Lake Ontario in 2018. He was 35.
The Hamilton-born player was drafted by the Senators in 2001, and went on to play five seasons with the team.
Emery is best remembered for backstopping the Senators to their first modern-era Stanley Cup Final appearance in 2007.

Emery’s family has been invited to ring the ceremonial bell at Canadian Tire Centre to kick off the new season as Ottawa takes on the Philadelphia Flyers.

Ottawa started the season with three games on the road, returning with two wins and a loss.
The team says it has expanded its free bus service for the regular season for fans with tickets to the games.
