The Liquid Federation confirmed on November 3 that its reserves once again match the amount of LBTC in circulation, restoring the network’s intended 1:1 relationship with Bitcoin.
However, questions remain about the security failure, the source of replacement funds, and when all withdrawal restrictions will disappear.

Liquid Network Bitcoin Reserves Return to Full Backing
Liquid Network has confirmed that every LBTC token is once again backed by an equivalent amount of Bitcoin.
The announcement follows several deposits into the federation’s reserve wallet, including 50 BTC on October 28 and two larger transfers totaling 550 BTC on November 2.
The final 250 BTC deposit eliminated the remaining deficit.
At the latest reported snapshot, approximately 4,270 BTC backed a matching amount of LBTC in circulation.
For users, this means the network has restored the reserve coverage that its Bitcoin-backed token is designed to maintain.

According to Blockstream’s official security assessment, the flaw involved the way transaction verification results were cached.
This allowed an attacker to create approximately 4,000 LBTC without depositing the corresponding Bitcoin.
The attacker subsequently used the SideSwap withdrawal mechanism to exchange the unbacked tokens for real BTC.
Liquid’s reserves fell from approximately 4,205 BTC to just 197 BTC before operations were halted.
Following negotiations, the attacker returned 3,400 BTC on September 7.
However, roughly 600 BTC remained missing, creating a financial shortfall that persisted for nearly two months.
